October [ ]. Last Sunday the parish clerk of a church south
of London bridge, having given out a psalm which the
minister did not approve of, was called to from the pulpit
to sing Gloria Patri, which he not instantly complying with,
was pulled out of his desk by the minister, who kick'd him
very heartily in the sight of the congregation, who were
greatly scandalized, and surprized, at such an exertion of
ecclesiastical authority.
Early on Tuesday morning a certain young man (not a
mile from St. Paul's) who was married the preceding day,
took his leave of his wife. The drummers paying their usual
compliments on such occasions, a little after, the lady went
to take some money in order to make them a present, when to
her surprise, she found her new spouse had walked off with
her whole fortune.
