London. May 9. Yesterday morning a large body of sailors
assembled in Stepney Fields, and proceeded through the city,
to petition the parliament for a regulation of their wages
as in other trades. They were orderly in their proceedings,
had flags in front, in center, and in rear, with fiddles
playing before them, and several ringleaders with boatswains
whistles were interspersed throughout, who answered one
another and regulated the whole body. . .
It was observable at a celebrated assembly last week, that
Miss Wilkes not only danced in the same row with one of the
R--- F----, but that the young lady's partner, for the whole
night, was a North-Briton.
