Nothing can equal the surprize and consternation of the
inhabitants of Bath, on finding the news confirm'd of the
(late) great commoner's accepting a Peerage. Many persons
who had treasured up his speech relating to the American
stamp-act, immediately consigned it to the flames; and we
hear that at several places in the country the bells rang
muffled on the occasion.
