London, June 6. The ball was opened at St. James's on
Thursday by the Duke of York and the Princess Augusta. The
concourse of nobility and gentry was so great, that several
ladies fainted through excessive heat. The minuets did not
end till near one, when the country dances began, then his
Majesty withdrew, and the ball ended between two and three
o'clock.
