Halifax, in Nova Scotia, Feb. 11.  The Hon. Jonathan
Belcher, Esq; Commander in chief of the province, having
received dispatches from England, with orders on account of
the demise of the late King, the same was taken into
immediate consideration by his Majesty's council, who is
consequence of their resolution thereupon for proclaiming
his present Majesty King George the third, assembled this
day at the Court-House at 11 o'clock, together with the
Right Hon. Lord Colvill, commander in chief of his Majesty's
ships in North America, and Col. Forster, commanding his
Majesty's regular forces in Nova Scotia, and a number of
officers by the navy and army, and all the principal
inhabitants of Halifax; 
when a letter from the Lords of his Majesty's most
honourable privy council, was read, declaring the demise of
our late sovereign Lord King George the second, of blessed
and glorious memory; and requiring the commander in chief,
with  the assistance of the council, and the officers civil
and military, and the principal inhabitants to proclaim his
sacred Majesty King George the third, and a copy of the
proclamation having been subscribed by the president and
council, and by Lord Colvill, Col. Forster, and sundry other
officers civil and military, and also by the clergy and
principal inhabitants; they then proceeded to proclaim his
majesty in the following order. . . 
6th.  The provost marshall with two deputies on horseback.
7th.  A band of music.  [in mss.] 2 fifes & a french horn. 
8th.  Constables. . .
