Last week Mr. Richard Fostbrook, a bag-weaver of this town,
was buried, when the following directions for his funeral,
ordered by his will, were observed; which were, that half a
crown in Queen Anne's coin should be given to each bearer,
twenty shillings to his spinners, and thirteen shillings and
sixpence to the ringers for ringing a peal; that 240 quarts
of the best ale should be drank, three songs sung, and that
a battle should be fought between two cocks. He left many
legacies to persons who were to attend his funeral; but, if
any of them shed tears, they were not entitled to their
legacies.
