Extract of a letter from Oporto, dated July 12. . .
They write from Brussels, that several heroick actions are
told there of the behaviour of the troops, which defended
Ypres, and particularly, that the French having made two
unsuccessful attacks upon a little fort, wherein was only a
serjeant, at the head of 18 soldiers, before beginning the
third attack, they sent a trumpet to let the little garrison
know, that if it did not immediately surrender, they should
be all hang'd upon the pallisadoes: The serjeant sent back
the trumpet with the following answer:. . .
