Boston.  Last Friday being the day appointed for publishing
his Majesty's royal commission constituting & appointing his
Excellency William Shirley, Esq; Captain General and
Governour over this province, about 11 o'clock his
Excellency was attended by . . . [3d para.:]
Also on this occasion the bells in town rang, the guns at
Castle William, those on board the Portland man of war, and
other ships in the harbour, with some others on shore, were
several times discharged and in the evening there was a
great variety of fire-works play'd off, and many other
demonstrations of joy.
