Extract of a letter from Mr. Daniel Robinson, (Son of Capt.
John Robinson, of Piscataqua [New Hampshire], who was kill'd
by the Indians, while bravely defending himself) Mate of the
ship Cornwall, of Bristol, dated on board said ship lying in
Calabar-River, on the Coast of Africa, Sept. 13th. 1739. to
his friend in Boston, via London. 
  Since my last, we have had a prodigious quarrel with the
Blacks in Calabar River, . . . [11 lines] We still ly at
anchor in this river, and since our victory we daily sound
our trumpets, and beat our drums, with Jack, ensign and
pendant flying.----  . . .  Yours, D.R.
