Vienna, Oct. 3. N.B. The 4th instant, was celebrated with
a great deal of magnificence in the palace of the Favorita,
the anniversary of the emperor's birth day, who then entered
into the 49th year of his age: Their Imperial Majesties
dined in publick with the most serene archduchesses--and the
elector of Moritz, there being a fine concert of musick;
after the repast, there was an exquisite serenade perform'd
by a great number of hands and voices; and about eight
o'clock at night, a curious firework was play'd off,
representing a triumphal arch, in the middle whereof was a
statue of the emperor in his imperial robes. Yesterday was
held a council of state. The same day the Hungarian
Deputies had a second audience of his Imperial Majesty, in
which they [a gate] open'd to him their grievances in
matters of religion; and we are told the emperor had the
goodness to assure them, that for the future the Romish
clergy should not disturb them in the exercise of their
religion.
