From the Whitehall Evening Post, Aug. 30. London, Aug. 30.
On Wednesday last Her Majesty and the whole Royal Family
honoured Sir Robert Walpole with their companies at dinner
and supper, at his house in Chelsea. Her Majesty and the
Princes Amelia went in an open chaise; his Royal Highness
the Duke with the Princess Caroline, follow'd next in
another; and his Royal Highness the Prince with the Princess
Royal, went in a third open chaise; and the younger
Princesses in a coach after. The dinner, which was in Sir
Robert's green house, was one of the most sumptuous that has
been seen in England on such an occasion. A kitchen was
built on purpose in the stable yards, near as long as that
erected for the dinner of the Knights of Bath, with above
twenty places for fires, &c. The fruit for the desert was
collected for a week preceding from all quarters of the
town. After dinner Her Majesty and the Royal Family retired
to the banqueting house of the river, to drink tea; where
were several barges of fine music playing all the time.
After which they returned to the green house, and afterwards
supp'd in the same place. The whole magnificent
entertainment was manag'd with the greatest good order, and
to the entire satisfaction of Her Majesty and the Royal
Family; who return'd to Kensington about half an hour after
eleven o'clock. The pensioners of the Royal Hospital were
under arms most part of the day.
