London, Jan. 29.  From Glasgow, Jan.12.  The magistrates of
this city having received account of our gracious Sovereign
King George of his safe return to his Kingdoms, did
thereupon give notice to the inhabitants by emitting a
proclamation thro' the city, to make signals of joy for this
great blessing, & immediately thereafter the chime of musick
bells begun to ring, and by five in the afternoon the great
bells did also ring, and thereupon the whole windows over
all the city were illuminated, and the Lord Provost,
magistrates, other persons of distinction, and principal
inhabitants of the city, with the officers of his royal
highness the Prince of Wales's regiment, commanded by the
Hon. General Sabins, quarter'd in the city, met in the Town
House, where his Majesty King George's health & welcome to
his Kingdoms, the Prince & Princess of Wales health, and the
healths of all the royal family, under three several
discharges of the fire arms of the troops aforesaid, drawn
up in order at the market place before the Town-House, with
loud Huzza's and acclamations of joy were drunk, with many
other loyal healths, & the night ended with ringing of bells
and other demonstrations of joy.
From Linlithgow, Jan.12.  Upon the agreeable news of his
Majesty's safe arrival in Britain . . .  [3 lines] with his
Majesty's officers and other persons of distinction, met in
the Town-House where the windows were illuminated, and the
King, Prince & Princess of Wales, the Royal family, and a
great many other loyal healths were drank, the bells ringing
from four to eight, and the night ending with great joy.
