Petersbourg, Aug.11. Our Empress and all the Imperial
Family, return'd hither the 7th instant. The particulars of
the advantage gain'd by our troops in the Province of Gilan,
are as follows, the Persian Vizier being governor of the
whole province, posted himself with 10000 men near the River
Parcham, and erected a fortress, with intent to annoy our
troops quarter'd in those parts, but Lieutenant General
Marousckin who commands the Russian forces in that country,
attack'd the body of Persians, defeated and pursued them a
great way, took five of their cannon, abundance of small
arms, 6 kettle drums, one trumpet, which they call'd general
trumpet, 279 stone cannon balls weighing one pound each,
some hundreds of horses and mules, with very inconsiderable
loss on our side.
