Utrecht, (in the Low-Countries,) June 10. Friday last being
the birth day of his British Majesty, the Lords and gentry
of that country here in town, celebrated it with very great
marks of joy. . . all English gentlemen, made a sumptuous
entertainment with fine illuminations, during which there
was an excellent concert of musick, and firing of cannon at
every health which was proclaim'd by a corporal like jolly
Bacchus striding a tun of wine, which was set a running for
the populace. . . [11 lines] The ladies too had a share in
the entertainment by the serenades which those gentlemen
gave them after supper, and the whole city in short was not
a little pleas'd on account of the interest which these
provinces have in the preservation of a King who is the main
support of the Protestant religion, and the principal ally
of this republick.
