Petersbourgh, (in Moscovy,) June 2. Notwithstanding the
late rumour of the Duke of Holstein's marriage being put off
again, the same was celebrated yesterday in the Church of
the Holy Trinity, in presence of the Empress. When the
ceremony was over, her Majesty & the illustrious couple
attended by the whole court crossed the River Neva in barges
under the discharge of the cannon of the fortress & the
Admiralty, till they arrived at the Empress's garden, where
a large magnificent hall was erected on purpose for that
solemnity. The foreign ministers, with their ladies who
were invited the day before, went likewise thither. During
the feast, a fine consort was play'd, &c. After the dinner
was over, her Majesty the bride and bridegroom, with the
other guests, went to a meadow before the garden, where
there were two fountains running with wine, and two roasted
oxen; not far off were the guards and other regiments drawn
up, who made three vollies. At ten in the evening, the
illustrious company, with their retinue, went in very
stately coaches to the Duke's palace, where the marriage was
consummated.
