Naples, August 14. 1723. Whilst they were celebrating the
octave of the ascension of the ever blessed Virgin in the
church of the miraculous St.Mary; the scaffold on which the
musicians sat fell down on the sudden, and 3 of the musick
were kill'd; the same had their limbs broke, and not one of
'em got off unhurt, to the great disturbance and confusion
of a vast number of devotees, with whom the church was
throng'd, and who thought that the fiddlers deserv'd to have
a miracle shew'd in their favour.
