Paris, Feb. 20.  They write from Lisbon, that on the . . .
29th of November last they had several shocks of an
earthquake, by which some houses were damag'd; but this was
nothing to that which was felt in the Portuguese town of
Villanova and Portmaon, in the Kingdom of Algarves, on the
27th of December last, which tho' it held but three minutes
was so violent, that it threw off several stones from the
principal churches, and cleft the walls.  The bells of the
Capuchins Church in Villanova were rung by the rocking of
the steeple, and their refectory was almost tumbled down, .
