Some days since, the wife of a porter having sworn the peace against him, he was committed by the justice to Bridewell, and on Tuesday, a great body of his Fraternity and Chairmen went to intercede for his enlargement, in which succeeding, they put him into a chair with a drum, which he beat as he was carried thro' the Strand, attended with the loud Huzza's of the vulgar, which was very diverting tho' ridiculous procession. |
