Madrid, Sept. 23. On the 21st instant in the morning arrived
here a cabinet courier in five days from Paris, and of the
letters he as brought for the Marquess de Maulevrier the
French Ambassadour, three have been presented to the King,
viz. one from his most Christian Majesty, one from the Duke
of Orleans, and one from the Council, expressing a general
consent to the King of France's marrying the Infanta. This
news had caused great joy to their Catholick Majesties [2

Majesty, and ordered the rest of the Infantas to do the
like, after which, their Majesties and the Prince went to
the Church of our Lady of Fuenisla, where the Te Deum was
sung in solemn Thanksgiving for this marriage. The King has
conferred the Honour of Knighthood of the Order of the
Golden Fleece on the Marquess de Meuleverier, and his
Secretary M. Robin with the title of Count of Castille, and
ordered 1000 doublons to the courier who brought this news,
which is to be joyfully celebrated for three nights
successfully with illuminations and ringing of bells.
Accordingly these demonstrations of publick joy commenced on
the 21st instant. . . [6 lines]
