Paris, May 14. On the 10th instant there was a ball at the
Tulleries, where the Turkish Ambassador was present with all
his retinue, where a fatal accident happened before the ball
began, to the Chevalier de Fenelon, nephew to the late
Archbishop of Cambray, and Lieutenant of the Regiment of
French Guards. This gentleman attempting to leap over the
ballisters which separate the King and the officers of the
court from the rest of the company, his foot slipt and he
fell on the spikes, which entering into his thigh cut the
great vain, of which he died two hours after.
