(From the Political State of Great Britain for the month of
September last, we have the following remarkables.) A
Ballad was publickly sold and cryed about in Exchange-Alley,
which could not but be grating to the ears of many of the
nobility, gentry, officers of the Army, and other persons
who, by this time, plainly saw, that by the mysterious
management of crafty knaves they had been led into a
labyrinth from whence they could not get out, without the
loss of a considerable part of their estates. For though
the declaration of the future dividends, mentioned in the
Political State of August last, give it at first a flurry to
the South Sea stock, and raised it to about 800 for the
opening the transfer books; yet it soon [flagg'd], and
gradually, in and about three weeks time, fell below 400.
