Last night about ten arrived here Capt. Jacobs in the ship
St. Stephen in 6 weeks from Madera, a sloop followed him
from Sandy Hook on Saturday which was the Pirate Paul
Williams; the captain, master, and some men came on board
the St. Stephen, and told them they wanted flower; [2 lines]
they got a pipe of wine from Capt. Jacobs, and some water
and left him, but the master of the pirate was left drunk in
Jacobs yaul, who he brought up with him, and as soon as he
came to anchor, the irate master made his escape.  The
pirates detain a sloop below, Samuel Vincent master, bound
hither from Nevis.  Capt. Jacobs carpenter, and a boy, a
drummer, went with the pirate by force, but the carpenter by
much intreaty got away again, and is come up with Vincent
this morning,. . . [5 lines]
