New-York, June 3. Tuesday last being His Majesty's birth
day the garrison and all the militia of this city were under
arms, the artillery of the fort, and from all the shipping
in the harbor were fired, and at night there was a fine
bonfire and fire-works, and wine where his Majesty's health,
the Prince, royal family, Prince Frederick, and a great many
other loyal healths were toasted; after which his Excellency
Brigadeer Hunter our governour had a ball, at Fort George,
where he made a very noble entertainment for the ladies and
gentlemen there; all the city was finely illuminated, and
the night ended with all the demonstrations of joy
imaginable.
