London, September 24. 1714. . . [2 paras. + 14 lines re.
King, Prince, royal retinue on board ships to make an entry
into London through Greenwich, the last part on royal
barges; whereupon he was received by Duke of Marlborough and
other officers]
The King bowed so low to them, that for a while his Majesty
seemed also on his knees; and this minute some signals being
made from the top of Greenwich Hospital, all the cannon at
two batteries that were near, and of the ships before
Greenwich and Deptford were discharged, while the guns at
the tower and in the river near London roared like thunder
at a distance, and serv'd as a bass note to this royal
musick, which with the acclamations of about 30 or 40
thousand people, and all the drums and trumpets of the
guards made a most glorious noise.
