Piscataqua [N.H.], March 25. On Fryday the 19th currant,
arrived here Capt. Henderson from Jamaica, but last in 15
days from Exuma, where he was boarded in the night by a
French privateer of about 40 men, but meeting with such an
unexpected reception was glad to get off, leaving one man
and several small arms and swords behind; that night the
privateer cut a Brigt. which belong'd to Carolina [a ship]
out of the road before he boarded Henderson [another ship]:
The next day a launch that attended the privateer, on board
whereof were all their provisions & cloaths, came in
expectation that the ship was taken the night before so near
to Henderson, that he took her, in which was a Spaniard, 2
English prisoners & a lusty Negro who is a very good
trumpeter, the prize was little else worth, besides the
Provisions and cloaths. . . [19 lines]
