From the Camp at Massagana, May 2 N.S. Our Troops having
possessed themselves of Moralija and Coria, were ordered to
advance to Casuella, where there was a great store of
provisions. We accordingly marched from Coria the 26th
past, and encamped near the River Alagon, which we cross'd
the next day. . . [7 lines] The Marquis das Minas having
received advice the 28th, that the Duke of Berwick was at
Placensia, the Army was ordered to advance thither; but he
having intelligence of our motions, retired to Las Ventas
Mazangana. Placentia immediately submitted to King Charles
III, and the Marquis das Minas went directly to the
cathedral, where Te Deum was sung; and his Catholick Majesty
was proclaimed with great acclamations and expressions of
joy from the people. [11 lines]
