New-York, August 18. . . Early on Wednesday last, the 28th
Regiment quartered here, was reviewed in the Bowery by his
Excellency General Gage; where they went thro' their
exercise, with such exactness in firings, and manoeuvres, as
gave great satisfaction to the General, and all the field
officers, and to a prodigious numbers of ladies, gentlemen,
and other inhabitants of the city.---All the gentlemen of
the army were caparison'd as customary; and as soon as it
was over, retired with the ladies to Mr. Jones's at Renelagy
Garden to breakfast, where they were very sumptuously
entertained.---Soon after which they withdrew, and in the
evening repaired thither again, where they were entertained
with an elegant cold collation, concluding with a ball,
fire-works, music, as usual, &c. the whole at the invitation
of the Hon. Major Brown, of the said Regiment. We are told,
another review of the artillery is on Wednesday next on the
same ground.
