audience in silent, but expressive language seemed to say,
go brave men, act valiantly -- acquit yourselves like men --
for the service of your country, its religion and liberties;
even the maidens seemed to say; go--return in triumph, we
will meet you with joyful songs, and dances, crown you with
wreaths of laurel, and reward your toils with the soothing
