Annapolis, (in Maryland,) February 6.  Extract of a letter
from a gentleman at Will's Creek, to his friend here, dated
January 27. 1755.
  "Yesterday arrived here Sir John St. Clair, Bart. Colonel
and Quarter-Master General to his Majesty's troops intended
for this service, and sets off to-morrow morning with
Governor Sharpe.----

  We are assured that at Chester-town, in Kent County
several men inlisted immediately on the arrival of the
officer in that town, before the drum was beat, and that
officer, wanting but 30 men, got his compliment, and marched
with them, within a very little while; such is the
commendable spirit of that place!  They are gone for Wills's
Creek, and some young Maryland gentlemen (true patriots) are
