Paris A-la-main, April 1. The following account has been
received here of the revolt which happened lately in the
Cevennes. The number of Protestants having for some time
past greatly increased, a reward of 600 livres was promised
to any who would secure their ministers: upon which an
officer of the Regiment of Normandy, who knew where to find
one of them, went with a detachment of his men, and secured
him: immediately after which he sent to desire the mayor of
the place to furnish him with a horse to carry his prisoner
to Montauban: This the mayor refused, saying he had none:
but, upon the officer;'s reproaching him for disobeying the
King's order, he promised to comply; but, instead of that,
he caused the alarm bell to be rung, and all the peasants
