Frankfort, July 3. M. Noailles arrived here this morning
with a numerous retinue. . . [9 lines] The gates have been
this moment shut on account of the French troops being
discerned on the other side the maine; and tho' they hurt
nobody, yet they alarm us exceedingly. . . [7 lines]
According to a list that may be depended upon, the French
lost in the late battle 5050 men, besides 1760 taken
prisoners. There have been likewise taken 1180 horses, 5
colours, 12 standards, 22 pieces of cannon, and a pair of

Hanau, July 3. On the 28th of the last month, the next
day after the battle near Dettington, my Lord Stair sent to
acquaint Marshal Noailles by a trumpet, 'That his Britannic
Majesty tho't proper to cause his army to march towards
