London,. . . July 15. His most Christian Majesty hears high
mass every day at Compiegne; and 'tis remarkable that the
musical parts are not only performed by the usual hands, but
even by some of the best nobility in France, who seem to
take a pride in being reckoned consummate fidlers and
singers; amongst these are the Dukes of Espernon and la
Tremouille, Count d' Ayen, and the Marquis de la Sourche.
Tis a comfort that the nobility of England have a more manly
and becoming taste.
