New-York, July 21. . .  On Wednesday last his excellency our
governor gave an ox and ten barrels of strong beer to the
workmen and labourers on the new fortification in this city,
. . . [3 lines] and the day was spent with great mirth,
drinking the public healths, &c. firing of guns, 24 being
placed on the battery for that purpose, drums beating, music
playing, and a vast concourse of people of all ranks till
