London, March 2. . . Yesterday being the anniversary of
her Majesty's birth day, the same was observed with all
possible demonstrations of joy. The morning was ushered in
with ringing of bells, at noon there was a splendid
appearance at St. James's, of the nobility of both sexes
foreign ministers, and other persons of distinction, to
compliment her Majesty; as were also several of the Welch
gentlemen and ladies, being St. David's day. The King,
Queen, Prince, and all the Royal Family, wore leeks in
honour of the day. The evening concluded with a ball at
court, and bonfires, illuminations, &c. throughout the
cities and suburbs of London and Westminster. . .
March 3. On Thursday night there was a great appearance
of the nobility and quality at the ball at St.-James's;
which was opened by his Royal highness the Prince of Wales
and the Princess Royal. Between twelve and one their
Majesties withdrew; and the company broke up about three.
On Monday next his Royal Highness the Prince will give a
grand entertainment to several persons of distinction this
new house in Pall-Mall; and in the evening there will be a
ball.
