Paris, Nov. 7. . . The King came to Villers-Cotterets the 2d
instant, where the Marchioness d'Etrees performed the
honours of the house, and presented to his Majesty the keys
of the castle. Very few if any ladies were at the festival
of that place, besides Mesdames de Sabran, and de
Courtabvaux, who appeared at the head of the country-women
at the adjacent villages, neatly dressed, and were presented
by the Marchioness d'Etrees to the King ; his Majesty caused
them to be regaled, and ordered several sorts of toys to be
distributed among them ; after which, being joyned by the
musick and young men of the country, they danced together
before the King.
