Anecdote of the celebrated Mr. Hogarth. . . [description of
his last work, "A Tail Piece," which included in the
design:] . . . the butt end of an old musquet--a cracked
bell---bow unstrung---a crown tumbled to pieces---tower in
ruins. . . [7 lines] a tobacco pipe in his mouth, the last
whiff of smoke going out---a play book opened, with exeunt
omnes stampt in the corner---an empty purse. . .
