From the New-Hampshire Gazette, Jan. 17, 1772. Messi'rs
Fowles. You are desired to insert in your paper, that on
New-year's Day, Capt James Ayscough, of his Majesty's ship
Swan, with his officers and jovial ship's company, joined by
Capt. Holland, Capt. Mowett, of his Majesty's ship Cancer,
and a number of the principal gentlemen of the town, made a
grand parade (in procession) with colours flying, drums
beating, music playing, &c. and waited on his Excellency
Governor Wentworth, to pay him the compliments of the
season; after which an elegant entertainment was given at
the Earl of Halifax Tavern, which ended in great friendship,
harmony and jollity.
