A picture of Europe for 1771. . .
Denmark. The King sitting in a court of justice in the midst
of his nobles, tearing away and destroying old records, and
replacing them with new. Fame with her trumpet, appears
suspended over his head. . . [59 more lines]
Rome. The Pope repeating homilies--nineteen cardinals
singing penetential hymns. His Holiness's hat nodding on one
side of his head. 
At a distance a Spaniard and a Frenchman dancing, after
breaking their chains. 
Naples.--The King stretched in an arbour listening to the
music of a full concert--has eunuchs for attendants.
Ireland.--Barefooted. Singing the Irish Howl.
