Virginia, Aug. 20, 1771.  We the subscribers, who are in
close goal, in Middlesex county, for preaching Jesus Christ,
and him crucified, outside of our few licenced meeting
houses. . . [26 more lines] The last sabbath, while one of
us introduced God's worship, by singing and praying, and
during the while that three of us one after the other, spoke
for edification to the multitude that flocked round the
prison window to hear us, a drum was beat near the window to
drown the sound of the gospel trumpet. . . [4 listed names]
