Princetown, New Jersey, Sept. 25, 1771. This day the
anniversary commencement of the College of New-Jersey, was
held in the church here. After the usual procession, the
business of the day was introduced with prayer by the
President, and a piece of vocal music performed by the
students. The exercises were conducted in the following
order. . . [4 speaking events] 5th. At 4 o'clock, the
audience again convened , and after singing by the students,
Mr. Spring delivered an English oration on the Idea of a
patriot King. . . [3 more events] 9th. The students sung an
anthem; after which the following young gentlemen were
