Monday last was celebrated the anniversary of the 14th of
August 1765, the day of the union and firmly combined
association of the True Sons of Liberty in this province,
without the least view of licenciousness, in a
constitutional opposition to illegal, oppressive and
arbitrary measures, at home and from abroad. At eleven
o'clock a.m. the Sons assembled at "Liberty-Tree, High-
Street, Great-Elm, South End, Boston". . . [lists the 14
toasts they made] After this the Sons repaired to Liberty-
Tree-Tavern, Mr. Robinson's, Dorchester. The company there
assembled being above 300, dined together under a tent
pitched for the purpose. During the entertainment, a variety
of colours were flying, music played, and at proper
intervals cannon were fired. . . [16 lines describing the
rest of the event and the 45 toasts made after dinner are
also listed.]
