Thursday last was observed here as a day of general
Thanksgiving. On this occasion large collections were made
in many or most of the churches in town for the relief of
the poor and indigent, to enable them the better to provide
against the inclemency of the approaching season. At the
close of divine service, several of the assemblies were
entertained with a number of anthems, which were well
adapted to this religious festival, and sung to general
acceptance.
