Hague, March 10. According to private letters from Dresden,
the Queen of Poland complains bitterly, and not without
reason, that she has no money. On the other hand, the King
of Prussia maintains that he offered, and still offers her
any sum she desires, on condition that she gave a receipt
for it: To which the Princess will not consent from a
delicacy of whose just value her majesty, no doubt, is very
sensible. . . This letter [from her to prime minister, who
answered he'd nothing to give her], when brought to the
post-house at Dresden, was brought to his Prussian majesty,
and according to the ceremonial now in mode at Dresden,
open'd by him. At the same time there was carried to him
another letter from the same minister to a celebrated
actress, inclosing two bills of 2000 crowns each. His
majesty took care to send both the letters to the Queen of
Poland---whose reflections on this occasion from the ladies
will more easily conceive than we can express.
