Dresden, Oct. 9. The Te Deum which the Prussian commandant
ordered to be sung here, was performed not only in the
churches belonging to the garrison, but in those where the
burghers go. The latter added a prayer to the appointed
form, begging the almighty to grant the return of a good
peace, and take under his protection the Royal Family,
preserve its august chief, and defend the country from the
fatal consequences of the present war. The demonstrations
of joy that were made here, and at the head quarters, might
be heard very distinctly in the Saxon Camp, and every body
expected to see the effect of the impression they would
produce there, when we received advice, that such motions
were making in that camp the 4th inst. as seemed to indicate
that the army was coming out.
