A few days ago an officer of the Aubigne Regiment of Dragoons being at a ball at Iff . . . insisted on dancing with the Lieutenant-General's lady in spite of her husband, who, in resentment of this behaviour, took an opportunity next day to shoot the officer in the back, and at the same time his brother gave him three stabs with the sword, which dispatched him. The lieutenant- general fled; but his brother is taken up. |
