London,. . . Apr 23. . . Mr. Huffey begs leave to
acquaint the nobility and gentry, that he has provided an
entire new assortment of masquerade habits, particularly
Venetian dominos of all sizes and colours, trimm'd and
embellish'd in a polite taste: Likewise masques of a new
invention, made of silk, which are free from the
inconveniences of those made of wax. Those ladies and
gentlemen who please to honour him with their commands, may
be furnished at his shop, next door to the Opera House in
the Haymarket, where constant attendance will be given on
the ball-day. If desirous of chusing, or having new dresses
made, by acquainting him with their pleasure at the two
green lamps, near Exeter Exchange in the Strand, they may be
accommodated in an agreeable manner. (Among all our vices
and follies, thanks to our wise legislators, we are yet
restrained from public plays and masquerades, those wasters
of money and time, and incentives to lust and debauchery.)
