Florence, July 29. All difficulties having been removed for
the ceremony of blessing the colours of the Emperor's three
ships of war, by a provisional decree, which the archbishop
of Pisa had made for that purpose, and which was afterwards
approved of by the Pope, that ceremony was performed the
19th instant by M. Cerrati, Chaplain of the Order of St.
Stephen, who afterwards celebrated mass in the cabbin of the
commodore's ship; on which occasion M. Acton entertained at
dinner, and with a ball, many ladies and gentlemen who were
invited to the ceremony.
