Avignon, Jan. 5.  His Royal Highness the Infant Don Philip
arrived here the last day of the old year from Grenoble, and
was received with all the respect due to his high birth.  On
the 1st of this month he was complimented by all the persons
of distinction in the country, in the evening there was a
grand entertainment and a ball to which all the nobility
were invited.  The next day his Royal Highness set out for
Aix,   The young Chevalier has been here ever since the 24th
of last month, but remained incog. till the day of the Royal
Infant's departure, when he made his publick entry.  He was
in a coach and six with the Lord Dunbar, which was preceded
by a troop of the pope's horse, and followed by the coaches
of the nobility; . . . The next day he received the
compliments of the tribunals and colleges:  In the evening
there was a grand entertainment, a ball, and a very fine
firework.
