From the Gentleman's Magazine for July, 1746. Friday, 25.
Arrived at Kensington from Scotland about two in the
afternoon, his Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland. As
soon as it was known, all the bells in the city of London
and Westminster rung, and at evening were illuminations and
bonfires, with continual firing of guns for several hours,
and all other demonstrations of the greatest joy from people
of all ranks.
