New-Haven, July 3. Upon the arrival of the joyful news of
the taking of Cape Breton, this day was celebrated with all
possible demonstrations of loyalty and joy. The students of
the college and the militia of the town appeared in arms,
and discharged sundry vollies of small arms and great guns,
with loud huzzas, ringing of bells, &c. In the evening the
college and the president's house were beautifully
illuminated, together with fire-works, bonfires, and other
publick demonstrations of joy, suitable to the extra-
ordinary occasion.
